Public Art Work “Meander” Installed At Highlands Branch Public Library

JACKSONVILLE, FL – A new installation of public art by local artist David Olson at the renovated Highlands Branch Public Library was completed yesterday for the city’s Art in Public Places Commission. “Meander” is an etched aluminum and etched copper wall relief.

This installation is the eleventh of fourteen major public art installations slated for the Jacksonville Public Library, complementing this year’s installations of Paul Braun’s sculpture at the Web Wesconnett Branch; Larry Kirkland’s bronze owl sculpture, “Wisdom,” at the new Main Library; Liz Mapelli’s glass panel sculpture “SquirrelyQ” at the new Argyle Branch; Kelli Bickman’s mural, “Imagination Tree” at Brentwood Branch; BJ Katz glass panel “Sun Salutations at the Southeast Branch; and Joe Segal’s concrete and marble aggregate sculpture “Revelation” at the San Marco Branch Library.

Olson lives and works in St. Augustine with his wife where they design and make sculpture and jewelry. His sculpture has been featured in many art exhibitions throughout the country as well as ones that have traveled world wide. Locally his work has been seen at the Jacksonville Museum of Modern Art, The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens and The Alexander Brest Museum.

The Art in Public Places Program is directed by the City’s Art in Public Places Commission, with assistance provided by the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville.
