Off the Grid Artist Application

Off the Grid is a partnership among artists, property owners, Downtown Vision, Inc. and the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville. Off the Grid facilitates introductions between Jacksonville artists and Downtown property owners in an effort to activate vacant space in the urban core with artistic energy an provide artists with much-need work and exhibition space.
Lease agreements are negotiated between the artist(s) and the participating property owners. Studios reange in size, condition and available amenities. The program does not provide living space.

St. Johns River Summit Art Exhibition (Jacksonville, Fla.)

The St. Johns River Alliance is seeking 12 pieces of artwork; one piece for each of the 12 counties that the St. Johns River flows through. The artwork will be exhibited during the St. Johns River Summit at the Prime Osborn Convention Center, September 15 – 16, 2010. Email a jpeg of your artwork to stjohnscultural[at]bellsouth.net

  • Include: your name, address, contact info, and the county the artwork depicts.
  • Include: title of artwork, medium, dimensions, price (if applicable) Art must be at least 20“x24” and should not exceed 36“x36”. All artwork must be framed.

Embracing Our Differences Annual Outdoor Art Exhibit (Sarasota, Fla.)

Embracing Our Differneces is an annual outdoor juried art exhibit celebrating diversity. The exhibit consists of 39 billboard-size selections on display at Island Park in Sarasota in April and May 2011. Open to professionals, students, and amateurs of all ages.

There is also a Call for Quotations. A critical part of the exhibit includes selected quotations from the general public that accompany the artwork. The quotations give individuals in the community a chance to have their voices represented.

Oil Spill Relief Silent Auction to Benefit the Audubon Society

The 323 Modernism Gallery is accepting art work donations and musical or performance talent for their silent auction on Saturday, July 10, 6 – 11 p.m. to benefit the Audubon Society for oil spill relief. Sulzbacher Center Give a Good Night Program (Jacksonville, Fla.)

The Sulzbacher Center is seeking long term volunteer artists to help homeless children receiving services from the center to create artwork to be featured on their Give a Good Night greeting cards. The greeting cards feature the children’s dream home decorated for the season (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day) and the sale of greeting cards can provide a week of healthy meals for a child, a night of shelter at the Sulzbacher Center of medical support services to a homeless individual. The Community Foundation – Art Ventures Grantees (Jacksonville, Fla.)

The Community Foundation in Jacksonville and The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens are collaborting to celebrate 20 years of grant making to individual artists and small arts organizations through the Art Ventures Grantmaking Initiative. The collaboratiion will include a juried exhibition of Art Ventures artists and will feature Art Ventures organizations. The exhibition will take place November 16, 2010 through January 3, 2011. LAB Gallery: MOCA Jacksonville (Jacksonville, Fla.)

The LAB Gallery, adjacent to the Museum Store, is an informal display intended to offer an exhibition and sales opportunity for emerging local and regional artists in a high visibility downtown setting. Two artists will be exhibited in three exhibitions throughout the fall season. The LAB Gallery will host a holiday show in December featuring artists from all the 2010 LAB Gallery exhibitions. Each exhibtion will have an opening reception on Thrusday night from 6 – 8 p.m. which will be free and open to the public. The opening nights are August 5, September 2, October 7, November 4. This new gallery, located on the first floor of the Jaxport Headquarters will feature local artists. Exhibitions will rotate on a bi-monthly basis.
